I couldn't agree with you more. I'm building a cbg right now...just took a break for your video. I'm using a floating bridge for the same reason! It's best to be able to have your string length adjustable in some way. Makes for way better sound when you play!👍😎🎸🎶

I've been using adjustable bridges on my first few builds. My 1st build sounds beautiful. My 2nd and 3rd builds, I cannot move the saddles back far enough to keep them from going sharp at the 12th fret. I have a handful of floating bridges in my supply box. I will give those a whirl with my next couple builds. Thanks!👍

make sure the scale length you planed for your guitar matches the fretting temple you are using. it sound like you may have made those guitars a bit too short for the frets

Do you think I could apply this to a nylon guitar with a previously broken bridge because someone strung it with steels?

How do you know wich way to move the bridge and also im guessing u have to lose the strings every time then retune and check ? It sounds longwinded so u kinda wanna be getting right straight away or only move it once

Very good info Del. Once you have the intonation spot on, do you ever glue them in place at that point?

Keith Terry never....why?? Because what if you wanted to lower the action... ?? or switch to a different string gauge??? You’d be up a creek

Hello. What is the downside of unglue (if possible) a fixed bridge and put a Floating Bridge in a normal acoustic guitar (6 strings)? Some luthiers say that usiing a tailpiece with a float bridge deforms the guitar top. Is it true? Thanks.

Good evening my friend, I am admiring your work, Congratulations, this instrument is very interesting. Here in Brazil does not exist, and I would like to do one of these. You are kind, I would pass on to me as measurements of that box, arm, strings, and tuning.

The tuning is, usually, using the intervals 1-5-1(an octave higher). For example; G-D-G or E-B-E. The measurements are pretty much whatever you want and depending on the box you have. There's plenty of information on internet, you'll find a lot of tutorials. Greetings from Argentina

a fixed bridge, glued in the proper place, will offer intonation just as good as a floating bridge

@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar interesting point....most of the fretted instruments i play have a floating bridge...with the 12th fret being midway between the nut and bridge, sometimes the bridge needs to be slightly tilted to get the right pitch, when playing next to the body...with my fretless cbc, just pick it up and play it...

Why does moving the bridge not also change the tuning of the open string?
@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar

It does.... you have to retune all the time
@essennagerry

But if it's not glues on couldn't it move while you're playing? Or is the chance of that very low?
@lorenzogiani7190

The downwards pressure of the strings is more than enough to keep the bridge on its place :)
