In this article, we will discuss how our patient, Pete Camarero, recovered his health after receiving Blair Upper Cervical Corrections. Pete found himself unable to get out of bed. For several weeks his dizziness persisted and at one point he wondered if he would be able to leave his house. Day after day it remained. The chronic unremitting dizziness made him depressed and his life became a shadow of its busy self.
Thankfully his sister found out about the Blair upper Cervical work through KZitem. Unfortunately, when people don't find answers in the mainstream they are forced to find solutions on their own. Google happened to be Pete's friend as it leads him to come to our office. Like all patients who enter our Los Angeles based upper cervical health care clinic, we ran a battery of tests to determine whether Pete's upper cervical spine was misaligned and interfering with the most vital part of the body, the central nervous system. The tests showed a right 2-inch leg length imbalance as Pete described in the embedded video. The short leg isn't really a structurally short leg but a functionally short leg. In other words, the leg bones are the same length but the muscle tone imbalance through the spine causes the hips, shoulders, and head to be imbalanced which makes the leg short. We took a set of cervical spine X-rays to view the joints of the neck to determine what direction it had misaligned. Then a custom-tailored correction was made to the neck to correct the spinal misalignment that the objective tests indicated. The Blair correction is safe, precise, and effective. The correction also does not involve any twisting, popping, or pulling as it is made in a side-lying neutral position.
Thankfully, as Pete expressed in the video, his vertigo cleared immediately. In short order Pete regained his normal life and as a consequence sent in his sister who suffered from chronic vertigo for 28 years. We will be telling this story in the coming weeks! Not only did Pete's vertigo disappear but his depression did also.
What Does The Neck Have To Do With Vertigo?
The neck is intimately connected to the vestibular centers of the body. It is well known that cervical spine trauma can lead to vertigo problems later on in life. The joints in the neck have pressure sensors known as mechanoreceptors whose job is to relay information from the joints of the neck to the vestibular nucleus in the brainstem. Injury to the neck joints can disrupt normal information from the cervical joints and lead to a host of vestibular type symptoms. In our office, we specialize in precisely correcting these joint misalignments to help the body recover health the natural way.
It is common for patients with vestibular disorders to suffer from a host of symptoms other than dizziness. We have found that cognitive disturbances, TMJ, headaches, neck pain, depression, and sleep disturbances are also commonly associated with chronic vertigo and dizziness. Instead of "treating each individual symptom" we take a holistic approach by removing interferences to the central nervous system. This allows the body to function better and in many cases it allows a host of different symptoms to resolve by this simplistic but powerful approach.
What Exactly Does a Blair Upper Cervical Doctor Do?
Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignment is located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck injury.
Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone-beam computed tomography (Cbct) is used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint. Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern.
Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling. The patient is then monitored over time to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed. However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”.
It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process. This is how Blair Chiropractic treatment can often help remove the underlying cause of whiplash induced neck pain and aid your body in healing itself.
